I am taking diploma ATCL in November/December this year. It was supposedly to be taken in May/June, but considering the fact that I'm still having so many weak points in my playing, I can't take the exam so soon, that means, a longer time before I get my cert.
So these are my weaknesses of playing the piano:
1. Expression. A super duper major weakness for me. I'm always having trouble 'feeling' the music. My piano teacher always complain that I don't have enough body expression while playing, and there was once she called me a wood. But really, I have no idea how do you 'feel' to the music and react according to it. The only thing I know how to do is to close my eyes and enjoy the music, but if I close my eyes, how on earth am I going to read the score and play it?!
2. Triplets. ESPECIALLY when the songs are extremely fast, like prestissimo or just allegro. And usually these are in the left hand. My fingers go so fast until a point when they start to lose control of themselves =.=. The notes become uneven and the tempo starts to go off. One example of this is that particular page in my Mozart piece, first movement. The beat is about 144 to 160, each beat three notes and every note has to be even. A lot of practice needed. Sigh.
3. Coordination. In certain parts, my left hand will go faster than my right hand, and my right hand will go faster than my left hand. But this is only a minor weakness of mine because it isn't difficult to improve on.
4. Beat/Tempo. My tempo is ALWAYS wrong. The worst thing is, my piano teacher LOVES the metronome simply too much that she uses it to practice with me every lesson. My beat always start off correct, but go off whenever there is a change of note count. The bells never seem to coincide with the first beat of the bars.
5. Drama. I have a couple of exam pieces that deals with extreme ends of the dynamics or range of the keyboard, and were supposed to create a dramatic effect. Apparently, I wasn't able to make the music sound as 'dramatic' as it should be. My piano teacher claims that my body expression contributes to this 'dramatic effect', which I find a little ridiculous because what about those music where you can't see the player playing it? But then again, the exam I'm going to take is a recital, so.... I guess expression does count.
I'm sure there are more weaknesses yet to be discovered within me, but these are the more important ones that I need to overcome first, hopefully to be realised by the end of this year. The exam fees are EXTREMELY expensive, so if I don't pass it, I'll knock my head hard against the wall first. And I haven't mentioned how STRICT the requirements for the exam are....

Chinese New Year
I went over to Malaysia this Saturday, to supposedly celebrate Chinese New Year, but the 'qi4 fen4' wasn't there. The past Chinese New Years were more eventful, especially the card games, but this year, the only card game I played was a miserable 2-player daidee with my second bro. I don't know how many rounds we played, but apparently it was so boring that we discontinued with it and he went to sleep and I went to do my Chemistry redox lecture notes, which till now I haven't found a way to solve that question yet.
During Chinese New Year eve, they did play with fire crackers and such, but during the whole time, I missed the fun entirely because I was sleeping. You must think I'm weird, but really, I don't talk to my cousins in Malaysia much. Maybe I AM anti-social as my mother suggests.
After that we went to Malacca to visit the grandparents on my mother's side. Okay so this is where all the mugging starts. Unfortunately, I couldn't do a lot of the questions in the tutorials. And I don't know why, I started to switch to the depressed mode, which I have not experienced for a long long time. Perhaps it was too quiet in the house in Malacca, but my mind really started to wander and I was on the verge of crying. I started thinking of questions like: Am I really suited to studying in a JC? Or to the extent of Should I drop out of school and work for a living instead? I kinda scared myself. But then, I really do not want to cry so fast for the first time in 2006. Save my tears for later. Or hope there wouldn't be a later.
I am generally a happy person, so if you see me tearing, it probably means that I've been yawning too much, as I do all the time. But if you REALLY ever see me cry, please do not be alarmed, I know how to comfort myself. Usually less than 5 minutes later I would be laughing again.
Anyway, I haven't mentioned the house cat yet! It's SOOOOO cute. Later I'll post up lovely pictures of the cat in my house in Malacca and also the little kitten I found in the garden.
Okay, let me leave a long random note before I go on to upload the pictures: If you ever hear me saying something that contradicts what I said earlier, please forgive me because I change my mind all the time, lolz. Fine, call me fickle-minded, most girls are like that anyway. lolz. But then again, I don't usually voice out much of my opinions since they are most of the time limited to the pages of my handwritten diary, in order to avoid any possible source of trouble.
Okay, I shall try to upload the pictures now.

Hair Loss
My mother just bought me a 'Hair Fall Control Shampoo'. Why? She told me, "Your hair is all over the house!" and so she bought this special shampoo for me. But seriously, I'm getting worried. What if I don't have anymore hair left when I'm old at the rate I'm dropping hair faster than it grows? I can't imagine. I can't imagine NO HAIR.
Anyway, there's supposed to be an OG outing today, but somehow it got cancelled because we couldn't compromise on what to do. So I decided, maybe we should go to the library and mug. In the end, only Jason and Alicia turned up.
Okay, here starts the complicated stuff. I met Caiying and Clovis at the library. I decided to join them since nobody from OG 1 has arrived yet. Later on, Hui Qi, a sec 4 girl, came along, and she was supposed to be tuitioned by Clovis. So we did some studying before Alicia arrived.
Alicia was pretty tired because she came from town, so she left kinda early, like right after Jason arrived. So Clovis was like asking Jason if he knew this other Clovis from ACJC. Jason said he knew him, and then later, this Clovis came along to meet us up. (personally I feel he looks a little like Kelvin Chen Weilian lol) So now there are two Clovis-es, both from ACJC. So this Clovis was from Clovis's primary school (erm, whichever Clovis it shall be lol). But the Clovis who came later was from Jason's secondary school. What a small world.
Later, the few of us went to Long John's for dinner, and Jason and Clovis (the one who came later) left first. Hui Qi also left, so it's left with Caiying, Clovis (the one from NH), and me. We wanted to go to play pool together after dinner, BUT WE COULDN'T BECAUSE I WAS WEARING SCHOOL UNIFORM!!!! I am so sorry, Caiying and Clovis. If I had known, I would have brought a pair of pants today. =( And now I feel so guilty.
So we just hung around Popular at Jurong East, looking at the CDs and the popular stuff, and A LEVEL books. lol. Seriously, the books are damn thick. Not unless neccessary, I won't purchase.
I reached home at around 9 + pm. Rotting at home right now. I am so free nowadays.
Anyway, to end off, I just wanna leave a message to some crazy people: STOP CALLING ME BRIDGE QUEEN OR ELSE.... you know who you are *cackle*

Festive Season
I CAN'T BELIEVE MYSELF! I was practising my piano just now, and I got so bored of my exam pieces that I went to play Chinese New Year songs! OMG! I must be seriously out of my mind. Luckily I'm the only one at home right now, or else my father is going to sing along and trust me, that isn't any good news.
I am currently addicted to bridge recently. And oh man, we are close to teaching everyone in class the bridge skills! 06S05 is full of cards freaks. lol. We play cards every free time we have. But sometimes, they do get so bored of playing that they start mugging, like what happened today. Suddenly everyone dispersed and went to grab their lecture notes and tutorials. GOSH. Spare me. I haven't touched a single question for the tutorials yet.
I went to HCI to eat lunch today! The food was pretty good, and it isn't as expensive as I've expected. Actually, the trip to HCI was totally unplanned. We wanted to go to KAP at first, but in the end the rest of them either went home or somewhere else so we went to HCI instead. I saw Ferarina in a Cedar Girls' uniform. No wonder I couldn't recognise the girl in the Nan Hua uniform! They switched their uniforms. I'm not really keen on doing that though. Besides, I don't think many people wants to wear the Nan Hua uniform.
Anyway, I shall go do my tutorials right now. If not I'm definitely not able to catch up with the rest.

Sunrise, sunset
I actually slept in the afternoon just now! I can't believe it. I slept before my parents went out, and woke up after they come back! So technically speaking, I shouldn't know that they went out at all. But they did, anyway. When I woke up I thought it was morning. And I feel so tired right now, not rejuvenated at all, as of how an afternoon nap should make me feel. And now, gosh, its dinner time.
My parents went to collect the new car they just bought last December. YES! We finally got rid of that lousy old Honda Civic that had been sticking around even before I was in primary school. So now, with the new car, maybe they can send me to school tomorrow *hopeful look*. But I doubt so. Chances are, they're going to use the car to send my brother to his camp instead. =(
14th of february may seem weeks away, but it seems to get nearer and nearer each day I look at the calendar. IT'S SCARY. But why am I scaring myself by thinking about it at this time? I can't change the fact that the day will come and decide all our fates, how ever I think about it or cower at the thought. But seriously, if I can't stay in NJC because of my O Level results, I'll go to ACJC, or even PJC or CJC. The problem is, I don't want to leave NJC. I have made a bunch of wonderful friends here and I do not really wish for another teary goodbye scene.
Again, what can I do at this point of time? I can't possibly fly over to England and bribe the Cambridge examiners; that is going to be a whole lot of trouble, and a waste of my already running out cash. Anyway, forgive me for so much pointless ramblings. I tend to complain out of and for nothing. For now, let me just enjoy MUGGING in NJC.
Lo and behold! NJC has turned me, a slacker, into a MUGGER! Ahhh. Horrors of horrors.

Chronicles of Narnia
Went with Guan Qun, Wan Xuan and Yiling to watch Chronicles of Narnia today! The show was nice! And now I understand what Mr Chow means by saying 'the true meaning of sacrifice and love' and 'reverse of death/resurrection' on his MSN nick. I don't mind watching the show again. =)
So we were at Cineleisure today, we played pool! I just realised I am falling more and more in love with this game, though I really feel a little uncomfortable playing the game while wearing a skirt. Speaking about skirts, woo! Guan Qun, you finally wore a skirt!!! (other than prom night lol)
Wan Xuan actually played till the white ball FLEW off the pool table to some other end. HAHA! And the people were staring at Guan Qun because she was the one who went to retrieve the ball!
After the movie we went around shopping in Orchard. I saw Choon Boon who pat me so hard on the back, gosh, he does have some astonishing strength. lol. We walked to Far East, walked around, window shopping, and we went to This Fashion, AGAIN. I remembered last December, Yiling, Wan Xuan and me spent 2+ hours in This Fashion trying out almost the whole store's clothes, and ended up only buying one set of clothes.
Anyway, later, Wan Xuan left because her father's fetching her home, and so Yiling, Guan Qun and me went back home together taking the MRT. Somewhere during the train ride we saw Ting Yang who was with a GIRL (hmmmm.... fishy fishy lol). Turns out he went to AJC and joined AIR RIFLE. Gosh, why is every one like so hyped up about that CCA? But then again, I am biased against RIFLES. I'm scared of them. I fired a machine gun before though, during the army open house thing. IT WAS SO LOUD AND DEAFENING THANK GOODNESS I HAD ON EAR PLUGS (its a must actually). There was this huge impact on my shoulder which was held against the gun. I AM NEVER GOING TO TOUCH A MACHINE GUN AGAIN. Forget about air rifle.
I am going to sleep at 12 am today. I have to bring back my sleeping time to 10 pm slowly, because somehow, during the holidays, I've been sleeping at 1 am every night and waking at 11 am every morning. Technically speaking, that still means 10 hours of sleep for me. But noo! Now there's school and I have to wake up at like 6.15 am every morning. And I'm still sleeping at 1 am.
Okay, whatever, enough crap about sleeping times. Now its really time for me to sleep.

Resurrection of the dead entries
Before I go to sleep, I shall type out another entry to make up for the loss I suffered this evening due to the cranky old machine that is functioning at the craziest way ever.
Orientation in NJC just ended on friday, with a dance party that reminded me a hell lot about prom night. Or should I just say the exact same thing happened. Disco lights, smoke, human trains, people jumping about like nobody's business, sweat, and the only thing that is different is the lack of air conditioner at the parade square in NJC. Since when did the air conditioners work in NJC anyway?!
Oh yeah and Guan Qun and her friend came over to crash NJC on friday! (shhh....) And Guan Qun claims its boring. Noo! How can it be boring? I am officially in love with NJC, although sometimes it might get a little grey around here.... but hey, not in a negative way! Then again, how can grey be viewed in a positive way....? hmm....
Anyway. After the dance party, which was around 11 pm, someting like less than half of the class went over to KAP to grab a drink and talk, and this worker there kinda ticked us off because we moved the tables in a way that we're blocking the aisle. But hey, can't blame us for KAP being so crowded even at this hour of the day. It was all filled with HWA CHONG people.
Speaking about that, Tim was supposed to do a dare, which was to go upstairs and get one HC girl and bring her down, and intro her to us. He's good man! In less than a minute he had a girl walking down the stairs beside him. Her name was Phyllis and she's from J2. Pro la. lol. Or maybe he's just lucky. Hahaha.
I walked home with the bunch of them since they live nearby too, and it was around 12 am when I reached. I slept instantly. Um, well, not exactly instantly, I bathed, blow dried my hair and went to sleep. I was totally worn out.
8 minutes to 1 am right now! I can still hold it. So I woke up this morning for my first ever band practice in NJC Symphonic Band! I haven't got to know all of the clarinet section members yet. Can't remember the names. Gosh. I thought my memory will improve after all the attempts to remember faces and names. But it just got worse every time. >.<"
Oh, and I was being called Miss Sociable by my new classmates! I feel so flattered! Woo! That means I have changed. And that's a good thing, if it doesn't mean negatively. Isn't it better to change all the time? For me, a person who stays stagnant is considered immature. I have this thing against immature people. And then again, if I ever declare that previous statement (which I just did), I would be considered unfilial, because sometimes I think one of my parents are immature, and to think he actually holds a phD. Gosh I'm getting evil. Somebody wake me up from my senses.
Okay shall go to sleep. The clock just turned 1.00AM.

Grrrrahhhh
If my computer were a life object, it would be on the orbituary page tomorrow!!!!!!!!
I typed two super long entries and it just died on me! Grrrrrrrr.
And to think I was SO close to click on the 'Publish Post' button, and it jammed! If you ever see me on the news later, you'll know the reason why.
Grrrr. Okay. I shall not reiterate what I was talking about in the last two failed entries. Or else my blood will boil at approximately 5099 degree Celcius. Will be back again to add another entry.

The end brings new beginnings
This is my first post on this blog! I feel so happy because I have finally made the decision to create a public blog for all to see!
Esther, you're the first one I told about my blog! You should feel honoured! LOL. And since your blog is Music & Sports, my blog shall be Music! Wahahaha. Don't ask me what's the link, I don't know myself.
